Toolkit Description
The VKT Dashboard is an interactive decision-support tool that helps transport agencies and policy teams understand how travel demand changes over time, by location, and under alternative scenarios. It consolidates VKT indicators into a consistent framework that supports interpretation, comparison, and communication across technical and non-technical audiences.
The dashboard is designed for practical appraisal and strategy work. It helps users move from “what happened” to “what it implies” by connecting VKT patterns to outcomes that matter for investment decisions—congestion, emissions, accessibility, and distributional impacts—while keeping assumptions and definitions transparent.
Technical Details
The VKT Dashboard is built as a repeatable analytics pipeline and web-based visual layer, with consistent geographic coding and time-series structure to support national and sub-national reporting. It is designed to accommodate regular refreshes, scenario overlays, and exportable outputs for reporting and downstream modelling.
